Because "feed 2 pounds" isn't very helpful if nobody tells you what belongs in those 2 pounds. 😆

How Much Should I Feed?

One of the most common questions we get. These calculators are here to take the guesswork out of it.

Whether you are feeding an adult dog, a growing puppy, a cat, a kitten, or a ferret — each animal has different needs, and feeding amounts are not one size fits all. Use the calculator that matches your pet, enter their current weight, and select the option that best fits their age and activity level.

The results will give you a daily feeding amount and a suggested breakdown by food type based on the raw feeding model you choose.

A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

• These are starting points, not rules. Every animal is different.
• Monitor your pet's weight, energy, stool, and coat and adjust from there.
• Balance is built over time through variety — not necessarily in every single meal.
• Fresh water should always be available.

NOT SURE WHICH MODEL TO CHOOSE?

Each calculator gives you the option to select a raw feeding model:

• PMR (Prey Model Raw) — meat, bone, and organ only. No plant matter.
• BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) — includes a small percentage of fruits and vegetables.
• Ancestral 6X — our preferred model. Includes seafood rotation and natural fiber sources for a more complete, whole-prey inspired approach.

Not sure where to start? The Ancestral 6X model is a great default for most dogs. For cats and ferrets, both PMR and Ancestral 6X are solid starting points — neither includes fruits or vegetables, so both are appropriate for obligate carnivores.
